An XFLAG and Tatsunoko Production collaboration, which they describe as "battle entertainment for girls".
The anime features Akubi from Tatsunoko's Hakushon Daimaou TV anime and Pandora from XFLAG's Monster Strike smartphone game, which also has its own web anime adaptation.
Akubi appears in the original Hakushon Daimaou anime from 1969 as the daughter of the titular genie Hakushon. This October marks the 50th anniversary of the franchise. Pandora is a "girl of wishes" from the Monster Strike smartphone game, who has appeared in the anime adaptation as a mischief maker.

Where it came from
Pandora to Akubi was produced by XFLAG and released in 2019 as a collaborative project connecting two of their prominent intellectual properties: the character Pandora from the mobile game Monster Strike and the titular genie Akubi from the classic Tatsunoko Production anime series Hakushon Daimaō. The film was conceived as an experimental crossover, aiming to blend the high-energy, modern aesthetic of XFLAG’s digital universe with the nostalgic, whimsical charm of the classic magical-girl-style genie narrative.
The character designs were handled with an eye toward updating the classic Akubi aesthetic to fit alongside Pandora’s established visual identity, focusing on a bright, dynamic animation style intended to appeal to a broad demographic of both long-time anime fans and younger mobile gamers. Upon its debut, the film was received primarily as a niche promotional effort, noted for its lighthearted tone and its successful integration of disparate creative legacies into a singular, cohesive short-form cinematic experience.
