Passionate Detective Agency

Passionate Detective Agency was produced by CoMix Wave Films in 2013 as an original net animation, or ONA, commissioned for the promotional campaign of the Japanese social networking service, GREE. The project was intended to highlight the potential for high-quality animation within the short-form digital format, serving as a vibrant marketing piece that demonstrated the studio's technical prowess in character movement and atmospheric lighting during a period when they were gaining significant international acclaim.

The animation features the distinct aesthetic hallmarks associated with the studio’s output from that era, prioritizing detailed background artistry and fluid, expressive character designs. While the short serves primarily as a commercial showcase for the GREE platform’s intellectual property, it was received by enthusiasts as a charming, self-contained stylistic exercise, notable for the studio's ability to imbue a brief promotional narrative with the same visual polish and attention to detail typically reserved for their feature-length cinematic projects.
