Where it came from
Piacevole, released in 2017 by Studio Zero-G, serves as a direct follow-up to the short-form anime series Piace: Watashi no Italian. The production was adapted from the digital manga series by Atsuko Watanabe, who also contributed significantly to the character designs. This iteration aimed to expand upon the culinary themes and character interactions established in the first season, maintaining a lighthearted, slice-of-life approach centered on the high-energy environment of an Italian restaurant.
The series is noted for its brief episode runtime, a format that emphasizes quick-paced storytelling and character charm over complex narrative arcs. Atsuko Watanabe, also known for her work in various animation director roles, sought to capture the warmth and bustle of kitchen life through expressive animation. Reception was modest, with viewers often appreciating the series as a cozy, low-stakes viewing experience that highlights the technical craft of smaller studio productions.
