Where it came from
Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf: Happy Formula was released in 2011 as a spin-off from the long-running Chinese animated franchise that debuted in 2005. Produced by Creative Power Entertaining, the series aimed to integrate educational content with the established slapstick comedy format, focusing on themes of creativity and problem-solving to appeal to both younger children and their parents in the domestic market.
The character designs retained the signature aesthetic established by series creator Lu Jinming, characterized by simple, rounded shapes and distinct color coding for each protagonist. While the main series is noted for its immense cultural impact and massive viewership across China, the Happy Formula installment received a generally positive reception for its efforts to pivot toward more interactive, learning-based storytelling within the popular animated universe.
