When Satoshi, Pikachu, and friends receive a mysterious message from the phantom Pokémon Arceus, they meet up with their old friend Takeshi and head to Mount Tengan to investigate. There, they find a rampaging Heatran and the group responsible—Team Galactic, previously thought to be dismantled. The team’s commanders are determined to find their missing leader by opening a gate between dimensions. With a trio of Legendary Pokémon and Sinnoh Champion Shirona on their side, our heroes have a lot of help, but they’ll need all they can get to save Sinnoh!

Where it came from
Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles was produced by OLM and released in 2022 as a special miniseries tie-in to the video game Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The narrative serves as a bridge between the core Pokémon Journeys anime series and the Sinnoh region's mythos, focusing on the historical mystery of the legendary Pokémon Arceus and the threat posed by Team Galactic. It was designed to capitalize on the popularity of the spin-off title, blending modern series characters like Ash and Goh with the aesthetic sensibilities and historical themes established in the Nintendo Switch release.
The animation and stylistic direction for this project aimed to capture the epic, ethereal tone associated with the Sinnoh region's folklore while maintaining the high-energy pacing of the Journeys series. Directed by Daiki Tomiyasu, the special was received as a bridge that unified long-standing franchise lore with the contemporary gameplay experiences of 2022. It is regarded by fans and critics as a notable effort to synthesize the expansive Pokémon multimedia brand into a cohesive, cinematic narrative experience.
