POKÉTOON (2025)

POKÉTOON is an ongoing series of short, experimental animated shorts produced by The Pokémon Company. The project began as a creative initiative to showcase diverse artistic styles and storytelling formats beyond the traditional television series. Unlike the primary anime, each installment is produced by various independent animation studios, allowing creators significant stylistic freedom to reimagine the Pokémon world through unique visual aesthetics, ranging from classic slapstick to atmospheric character studies.

The 2025 releases continued this tradition under the curation of studio mimoid, known for its distinctive, often whimsical design sensibilities. These shorts are designed to celebrate the emotional core of the franchise, focusing on slice-of-life narratives that prioritize mood and character expression. This experimental approach has been well-received by fans and critics alike, who appreciate the departure from the high-stakes narrative structures usually associated with the franchise in favor of shorter, more intimate vignettes.
