Where it came from
Power of Hope ~Precure Full Bloom~ was produced by Toei Animation as a direct sequel to the original Yes! Precure 5 and Yes! Precure 5 GoGo! series. Released in 2023 to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Precure franchise, the series shifts its tone to explore the adult lives of the original protagonists. It was conceived as a mature exploration of the challenges faced by young women as they transition from magical girl heroines into their professional and personal lives in early adulthood.
The production sought to balance nostalgia with contemporary animation standards, overseen by creative staff who aimed to honor the legacy of the original Toei series while grounding the narrative in relatable, modern-day struggles. The visual design remains faithful to the established aesthetic of the GoGo! era, though updated to reflect a more sophisticated, mature color palette. Upon its release, it was well-received by long-term fans who appreciated the sentimental focus on character growth and the preservation of the original voice cast.
