Power Stone

Power Stone was produced by Studio Pierrot and aired in 1999, serving as an adaptation of the popular 3D fighting game developed by Capcom for the Sega Naomi arcade hardware. The series was designed to capitalize on the success of the high-energy, arena-style combat found in the games, transposing the frantic battles and the search for the titular artifacts into a narrative format. By leveraging Studio Pierrot's experience with long-running action titles, the production sought to retain the aesthetic vibrancy and chaotic movement that defined the interactive source material.

The creative direction for the series focused on translating the game's exaggerated, whimsical character designs into animation, placing the protagonist, Edward Falcon, in an adventure-seeking context that mirrored the quest-driven mechanics of the game. While the transition from arcade gameplay to episodic storytelling required a shift in pacing, the series was received as a colorful piece of late-nineties media that aimed to expand the franchise's world-building for younger audiences. It remains a notable example of the era's trend of adapting arcade titles into standalone animated programs.
