Princess 69

Princess 69 was released in 2002 by the animation studio Pink Pineapple, a label synonymous with the adult-oriented anime (hentai) market of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Produced as a two-part original video animation (OVA), the series emerged during a period when high-concept, fantasy-infused erotic anime were staples of the home video rental market in Japan. Its development reflected the industry's focus on short-form narrative storytelling paired with increasingly polished aesthetic styles intended to capitalize on the success of specialized animation studios during the era.

The production sought to blend traditional character-driven fantasy tropes with the stylistic sensibilities common to the studio's catalog at the time. Design choices prioritized expressive character models and atmospheric settings, common features in the visual language of independent animation studios catering to niche demographics. While the work remains a product of a specific, restricted sub-genre of late-20th-century animation, it is noted by collectors primarily for its contribution to the stylistic evolution of the adult OVA format during the transition into the digital animation era.
