Princess Beware

Princess Beware, known in Japan as Hime-sama Goyoujin, was produced by Bandai Visual and released as a short-form anime television series in 2006. It emerged during a period when Japanese studios were experimenting with varied episodic lengths and niche comedic premises, aiming to blend the traditional 'princess and knight' archetype with contemporary situational humor. The series centers on the dynamic between a high-strung, sheltered princess and her stoic bodyguard, providing a lighthearted exploration of duty and protection through a distinctively stylized visual approach.

The character designs and animation direction prioritize an expressive, vibrant aesthetic typical of the mid-2000s era of digital-traditional hybrid production. By focusing on the interplay of personality clashes within a confined, episodic structure, the creative team sought to deliver a quick-witted narrative experience that functioned as both a parody and a tribute to the fantasy romance genre. Upon its release, it was received as a charming, if brief, diversion, noted primarily for its dedication to character-driven humor rather than expansive world-building.
