Where it came from
Queen's Blade: The Exiled Virgin Specials were produced in 2009 by studio ARMS as supplementary content for the first season of the Queen's Blade anime adaptation. These shorts were released as bonus material included with the Japanese DVD and Blu-ray volumes of the series, intended to expand upon the lore of the competitive fantasy world derived from the original visual combat gamebooks published by Hobby Japan.
The character designs for the series were managed by Rin-Sin, who maintained the aesthetic established in the gamebooks, emphasizing a distinct high-fantasy look with a focus on detailed armor and character archetypes. The specials were designed to provide lighthearted or supplemental narrative context to the main tournament arc, serving as a promotional tool to incentivize collectors to purchase the full home video release of the series.
