The project was conceived as an effort to expand the narrative universe of the original game, focusing on the personified spirits of historic Japanese locomotives known as 'Railords.' The series was designed to emphasize a tranquil, slice-of-life atmosphere, shifting away from the high-stakes management simulation mechanics of its source material to highlight the aesthetic charm of railway history.

The production utilized a digital animation style intended to capture the detailed mechanical designs of the trains while integrating the delicate character art characteristic of the franchise.
