Rakshasa Street, known in China as Zhen Hun Jie, originated as a popular manhua series written and illustrated by Xu Chen. The narrative follows Xia Ling, a recent college graduate who enters the Requiem Street—a purgatory where spirits coexist with humans—and discovers her unique destiny as a guardian of souls. The transition to an ONA format allowed for a distinct visual style that blends traditional supernatural lore with contemporary urban fantasy elements, emphasizing the duality of the human and spirit worlds.

The animated adaptation was produced by L² Studio, which focused on translating the intricate battle sequences and the complex relationship between the protagonists and their guardian spirits into a dynamic screen format.
