Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage

Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage was produced by WIT Studio and released in 2023 as a companion series to the original 2021 adaptation of Sosuke Toka’s manga. Rather than continuing the primary narrative arc, this installment serves as an anthology of side stories, designed to deepen the audience's understanding of the supporting cast and their motivations during gaps in the main timeline. The project aimed to maintain the series' distinctive, storybook-inspired aesthetic, focusing on character-driven vignettes that prioritize emotional nuance and growth.

The visual direction, led by the same team responsible for the original series, emphasizes a minimalist yet expressive art style that contrasts sharply with contemporary high-fantasy anime tropes. By revisiting the world through these shorter, standalone episodes, the creators sought to explore the complexities of Bojji’s allies and rivals in a more intimate setting. Upon its release, the series was well-received by critics and fans alike, noted for its ability to preserve the thematic warmth and poignant storytelling that defined the initial adaptation.
