Where it came from
Released in 1995, this music video collection serves as a visual compilation for DoCo, a vocal group composed of the primary female voice actresses from the Ranma 1/2 anime series: Megumi Hayashibara, Noriko Hidaka, Minami Takayama, Kikuko Inoue, and Rei Sakuma. The project emerged at the height of the franchise's popularity, capitalizing on the cast's musical chemistry as they performed character-driven songs that became synonymous with the series' lighthearted, chaotic spirit.
The production was handled by Kitty Film, the studio responsible for the long-running television series and its associated OVAs. Eschewing the traditional narrative structure of a standard anime episode, the video functions as a stylized showcase for the ensemble's musical catalog. It is noted for its breezy, promotional aesthetic, which mirrored the playful promotional strategies common in mid-90s Japanese media, cementing the group’s status as a distinct musical act born from the legacy of the Ranma 1/2 universe.
