Re member?

Re member? is a notable conceptual art piece produced by Japanese artist Yoko Ono, first released in 1995 as part of her broader series of instructional art. The work stems from Ono's long-standing tradition of 'event scores,' which are brief, poetic instructions designed to prompt the reader to engage in a meditative or transformative mental exercise. In this instance, the piece focuses on the act of remembering, encouraging the audience to explore the boundaries of memory and personal history through a simple, open-ended directive.

The design of the work reflects Ono's minimalist aesthetic, typically presented as a plain, printed card or small-scale publication. By stripping away visual clutter, Ono intended to direct the viewer's entire focus toward their own internal experience rather than the physical object itself. Upon its release, the piece was received as a quintessentially Onoonian bridge between the mundane and the philosophical, reinforcing her reputation for using concise language to challenge the perception of the viewer.
