Rebirth: Virtual to no Souguu

Rebirth: Virtual to no Souguu was produced by LIDENFILMS in 2020 as a special project tied to the multimedia Rebirth for you trading card game franchise. The animation serves as a promotional tie-in, designed to showcase the characters and atmosphere of the card game universe to an audience already familiar with Bushiroad’s various entertainment properties. By blending traditional character-driven storytelling with the aesthetic hallmarks of modern promotional anime, the project aims to bridge the gap between static card art and dynamic narrative media.

The creative direction for this special focuses on the lighthearted, high-energy tone characteristic of the Rebirth for you series, which emphasizes the interpersonal relationships between its diverse roster of student characters. Lidenfilms utilized their established production style to maintain consistency with the franchise's overarching visual identity, ensuring the characters remain recognizable to players of the game. Upon its release, the special was received primarily as a niche supplemental work, catering specifically to the established fan base and local players of the collectible card game.
