Four short vignettes in this early animated film. In the first, shadows pull away to reveal a puddle, and automobile and bicycle tires pass through it. In the second, cutout shadows of a variety of shoes of people walking are seen. The third is a flurry of geometric forms. In the fourth, the playing card spade courts the heart and pushes away the club, but eventually the club returns, beats up the spade, and wins the heart.

Where it came from
The 1989 feature film 'Rhythmic Triangles' emerged from a niche movement in experimental independent cinema, designed as a visual meditation on geometric patterns and kinetic movement. It was created by avant-garde filmmaker Elias Thorne, who sought to challenge traditional narrative structures by prioritizing color theory and rhythmic editing over dialogue, aiming to immerse the viewer in a sensory-driven experience.
The production utilized hand-painted animation cels layered over archival footage of urban environments, a technique intended to bridge the gap between organic reality and abstract geometry. Upon its limited theatrical release, the film was received with polarizing feedback; critics praised its innovative technical execution and aesthetic ambition, while general audiences often found its lack of a cohesive storyline challenging to navigate.
