Saving lost souls on the tightest budget known to man is only a day's work for half-human, half-Shinigami kind-of-thing Rinne. Together with the almost too-collected Sakura and his black cat Rokumon, life continues as normal as Rinne helps guide the dead to their final rest. However, new transfers are never a good sign, and a popular fortune teller ends up at Rinne and Sakura's school as their new teacher. Things get chaotic when a strange girl wielding a scythe makes an appearance, and Rinne realizes that he might discover a major piece surrounding the mystery of his past.

Where it came from
Rin-ne 3 represents the third installment in the television anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's manga series, Kyokai no Rinne. Produced by Brain's Base and released in 2017, the series continues the supernatural comedy adventures of Rinne Rokudo, a student working as a shinigami to guide restless spirits to the afterlife. Following the structure established by the previous two seasons, the production maintained a focus on capturing Takahashi's signature blend of folklore and lighthearted school-life tropes.
The animation direction for the series aimed to preserve the clean, expressive aesthetic of the original manga. By the time this third season aired, the studio had refined the show's visual identity, emphasizing a consistent color palette and character designs that remained faithful to the source material. While the series was received as a steady continuation for dedicated fans of the franchise, it occupied a niche space within the broader landscape of contemporary supernatural anime, prioritizing tone and continuity over experimental stylistic departures.
