Ro-Kyu-Bu!: Tomoka no Ichigo Sundae

Released in 2013 by studio project No.9, Tomoka no Ichigo Sundae is an original video animation that serves as a spin-off to the Ro-Kyu-Bu! light novel and anime franchise. The series, which centers on a high school student coaching an elementary school girls' basketball team, achieved significant popularity in the early 2010s for its lighthearted tone and character-driven narrative. This specific OVA was produced to provide a standalone comedic episode focused on the character Tomoka Minato, maintaining the established art style and voice cast that defined the original television run.

The animation design follows the established aesthetic of the Ro-Kyu-Bu! franchise, prioritizing a clean, vibrant look typical of mid-2010s slice-of-life anime. The project was intended to sustain fan engagement during the interim between major production cycles of the series. While the franchise itself garnered attention for its unique premise and multimedia expansion, the OVA was received as a niche offering tailored specifically to established fans of the series, focusing on lighthearted fan-service scenarios rather than advancing the primary competitive basketball plotline.
