"Okaeri" follows high school senior Sora who is aiming to be a professional soccer player. Unfortunately, Sora is injured and finds that the path to being a pro in Tokyo is now closed to him. He decides to find a new path in Saga Prefecture's Karatsu city.

Where it came from
Sagaken wo Meguru Animation was produced in 2017 by TMS Entertainment as part of a strategic regional promotion initiative known as the Sagaprise project. The project was launched by the Saga Prefecture government to boost local tourism and increase the region's visibility by integrating its scenic landscapes and cultural heritage into the narrative framework of popular animation.
The production sought to blend travelogue elements with traditional storytelling, focusing on the distinct architecture and artisanal history of Saga. TMS Entertainment utilized a clean, approachable aesthetic intended to appeal to a broad demographic, emphasizing natural lighting and the tranquility of rural Japanese life. Upon release, it was well-received as an effective piece of soft-power marketing that successfully showcased the prefecture's unique attractions to a national audience.
