In the sky over Hakata city, fighter planes were flying and bombers are dropping bombs one after another. It became a sea of flames around Fukuoka Dome. At that time, a light appeared in the sky. In the shower of missiles, it intercepted enemy planes by its energy cannon. It was another “Ultimate Weapon”.
In the meantime, Chise was suffered from the fact that she’d been turned into a weapon against her will, and she was thinking about Shuji. However, the army continued sending her to the battle fields.
Whether another ultimate weapon is an enemy or a friend?

Where it came from
Saikano: Another Love Song was released in 2005 as a two-part original video animation, serving as a side-story to the popular manga and anime series Saikano: The Last Love Song on This Little Planet. Produced by Studio Fantasia, the project was designed to expand upon the melancholic, science-fiction romance themes established in the original work. The production team aimed to capture the same sense of existential dread and tragic intimacy that defined the franchise, utilizing a somber aesthetic to mirror the emotional weight of its protagonists' experiences during wartime.
The animation style and narrative direction were intended to complement the atmospheric intensity of the original source material by Shin Takahashi. While the primary series focused on the central relationship between Chise and Shuji, this OVA shifted focus to explore parallel emotional threads within the same bleak universe. Upon its release, it was received primarily by the existing fanbase as a somber, character-driven companion piece, praised for maintaining the emotional gravity and stylistic consistency that had become a hallmark of the Saikano series.
