Say "I love you". Specials

The Say 'I love you' Specials, released by Starchild Records in 2013, serve as an audio-visual companion to the anime adaptation of the manga series written and illustrated by Kanae Hazuki. The series, which focuses on the character Mei Tachibana and her unexpected romance with Yamato Kurosawa, gained significant traction for its grounded, introspective take on the high school shōjo genre. These specials were produced to extend the narrative experience for fans following the broadcast of the television series, offering additional character depth and musical motifs that defined the show's aesthetic.

The creative direction for these specials emphasized the series' signature themes of vulnerability and personal growth. By utilizing the melancholic and hopeful soundscapes curated by Starchild Records, the production team sought to mirror the emotional pacing of Hazuki’s original work. The release was received as a heartfelt supplement to the primary narrative, praised by the series' dedicated following for maintaining the delicate balance of teenage intimacy and social anxiety that made the source material a notable entry in the romance subgenre.
