Where it came from
Sayonara, Midori ga Ike: Tobe! Tako Glider!! was released in 2005 as an original video animation tied to the popular Ghibli-esque, whimsical television series Ojamajo Doremi. Produced by Toei Animation, the project served as a specialized entry within the franchise's long-running history, intended to offer fans a nostalgic return to the show's beloved cast and vibrant, magical aesthetic following the conclusion of the main series.
The production sought to capture the hallmark charm of the series through its signature character designs, which emphasize expressive, rounded features and a bright, pastel-heavy color palette. While the Ojamajo Doremi franchise as a whole was celebrated for its heartfelt narrative approach to childhood themes, this specific OVA was received by its dedicated community as a poignant, lightweight coda, reflecting the studio's broader commitment to maintaining the gentle, enduring tone that defined the original magical girl property.
