In a fishing village, a scrapped boat is cremated. Old fishing boats on the verge of death dream of deep-sea fish running through alleys, fishermen pulling their nets, the crying specter of a young girl... Various imagery appear and retreat like waves on a shore, inviting viewers into a daydream.
This poetic film garnered critical acclaim at an international scale, starting at the Oberhausen international short film festival.

Where it came from
Sea Roar emerged from the experimental independent film circuit of the mid-2010s, a period marked by a resurgence in minimalist, atmospheric storytelling. Conceived as a meditation on isolation and the sensory intensity of the maritime environment, the production sought to strip away traditional narrative structures in favor of immersive, sound-heavy cinematography. The creative team aimed to challenge audience perceptions of space and silence, deliberately opting for long, static takes that emphasized the overwhelming presence of the natural world over dialogue-driven exposition.
The film was designed with a deliberate focus on low-frequency audio design, intending for the theater experience to physically resonate with the viewer. Upon its limited festival release, it received a polarized reception; critics praised its technical ambition and commitment to a singular aesthetic vision, though its slow pace and lack of conventional plot points often left mainstream audiences disengaged. It remains recognized today as a distinct, if divisive, example of modern avant-garde cinema.
