Where it came from
Seikou Senki Pony Celes was released by Studio Majin petit in 2026 as a standalone original video animation. The project emerged from a period of experimental short-form storytelling in the independent anime scene, aiming to blend traditional cel-style aesthetics with modern digital compositing techniques. Its production was characterized by a focus on intimate character studies, prioritizing fluid, expressive movement over high-octane spectacle.
The visual direction was helmed by the creative team at Majin petit, who sought to evoke a nostalgic, late-nineties adventure tone while grounding the narrative in contemporary themes of transformation and identity. Upon its release, the title received praise from niche animation enthusiasts for its deliberate pacing and distinct, hand-drawn look, which stood in contrast to the increasingly prevalent 3D-assisted styles of the mid-2020s.
