The anime adaptation was commissioned to capitalize on the game's popularity, serving as a promotional vehicle that reimagined the Sengoku period of Japanese history through a fantasy lens. The project was animated by Typhoon Graphics, who sought to translate the game's character-heavy aesthetics into a serialized television format.

The character designs were handled by a team of prominent illustrators from the Otomate brand, each responsible for specific historical factions such as the Oda or Toyotomi. These designs were intended to balance traditional samurai motifs with the 'ikemen' (handsome men) visual style common in romance simulation games.
