Sergeant Keroro: The Super Duper Movie 2

Sergeant Keroro: The Super Duper Movie 2, known in Japan as Keroro Gunsō the Super Movie 2: The Deep Sea Princess, was produced by Sunrise and released in 2007. It serves as the second feature-length installment in the franchise adapted from Mine Yoshizaki’s long-running manga, which follows a squad of alien frogs attempting to conquer Earth. The film was directed by Susumu Yamaguchi and fits into the broader 2000s trend of expanding popular anime series into theatrical events.

The film’s design maintains the distinctive visual aesthetic of Yoshizaki’s original work, characterized by high-contrast, expressive character models and a blend of slapstick humor with environmental themes. By the time of this release, the Keroro franchise had reached a cultural peak in Japan, with the movie receiving a generally positive reception from the existing fanbase for its ambitious production values and for introducing the character Meru, the Deep Sea Princess, who provides a more serious emotional anchor for the film's narrative.
