After Aoi Zip Formula was banned for one year from Cyber Formula racing due to cheating, Jotaro Kaga, alias Bleed Kaga, returns for the 17th Cyber Formula World Grand Prix. However his old car is no match for the returning champion Hayato Kazami, whose skill has improved tremendously, and his Nu-Asurada AKF-0. An old face, Kyoshiro Nagumo, appears suddenly to him and offers him the Ogre AN-21: a prototype to the Bio-Computer operated Al-Zard series created by the developers of the Asurada, and an ultimate racing machine that only a few can drive. Kaga must now master this car, confront his own inner demons and, most importantly, defeat his longtime rival Hayato in what is possibly Kaga's last and greatest Cyber Formula season.

Where it came from
Shin Seiki GPX Cyber Formula SIN was released as a five-episode original video animation series between 1999 and 2000, serving as the final installment in the Cyber Formula anime franchise. It depicts the conclusion of the high-stakes world of futuristic racing, focusing on the character Hayato Kazami as he struggles to maintain his championship status against evolved autonomous racing technologies. The series was produced by Sunrise under the direction of Mitsuo Fukuda, who sought to provide a definitive and emotionally resonant ending to the long-running narrative that began with the original television series in 1991.
The series is noted for its high-octane visual style and the transition of the titular Cyber Formula machines into more sophisticated, aggressive designs. Sunrise utilized the advanced production quality typical of late-nineties OVAs to capture the intensity of the racing sequences, receiving acclaim from fans of the mecha and sports genres for its technical precision and character development. It remains a hallmark of the nineties era of Sunrise animation, blending intricate mechanical concepts with a focused, character-driven dramatic arc.
