Ittoki Sakuraba was an ordinary student, until his life was turned upside down! He finds out that he is the 19th heir of the famous Iga Ninjas. The Iga must try to defend what is theirs from the Koga, a rivaling clan seeking to end Ittoki’s life. Ittoki is left with no choice but to become a shinobi that’s strong enough to not only protect himself, but also his village. Now a student at Kokuten Ninja Academy, a high school specializing in shinobi techniques, Ittoki learns the way of the modern-day ninja, equipped with high-tech suits and gadgets. Together with students from other villages, Ittoki clashes with the Koga in an attempt to end the rivalry once and for all.

Where it came from
Shinobi no Ittoki is an original anime television series produced by Studio TROYCA and broadcast in 2022. The project was conceived as an exploration of the modern-day ninja narrative, grounding the ancient traditions of stealth and espionage within a contemporary high school setting. By juxtaposing the covert lives of ninja clans with the mundane pressures of student life, the series aims to recontextualize historical tropes for a modern audience.
The production was directed by Shuu Watanabe and features character designs by Isamu Suzuki, who focused on distinguishing the aesthetic of the rival Iga and Koga clans while maintaining a sleek, modern visual profile consistent with TROYCA's technical style. Upon release, the series was noted for its focus on the inheritance of familial duty and the tension between legacy and personal identity, though it received mixed critical reception regarding its pacing and integration of traditional lore into a technological era.
