Humanity is exterminated by a genetic race they created to fight a deadly virus. One of the scientists brings his young daughter into a cryogenic sleep, hoping that she will awaken one day and find surviving humans, so that she can bring peace between them and the genetic beings, the Enterrans. The girl, Yakumo received special powers at the impact of a meteorite, the impact after which the Enterrans went evil. When she awakens, 500 years later, she goes on her journey and meets three Enterrans who join her. Together with them she slowly finds from the secrets of the past and what happened to her home planet in reality.

Where it came from
Shinzo, known in Japan as Mushrambo, was produced by Toei Animation and aired in the year 2000. It was created as a loose reimagining of the classic 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West, transplanting the legendary characters and quest structure into a post-apocalyptic future where humanity is nearly extinct and Earth is dominated by a synthetic race known as Enterrans.
The character designs were handled by artists at Toei aiming for a gritty, high-octane aesthetic typical of the turn-of-the-millennium shonen anime boom. While the series attempted to blend traditional mythology with science fiction tropes to appeal to a global audience, it experienced varying reception across different regions, often remembered as a niche cult title from the early 2000s anime broadcast era.
