Shiohi Girls Vongole Bianco

Shiohi Girls Vongole Bianco was released in 2019 as part of a series of promotional short animations commissioned by the Japanese restaurant chain Marugame Udon. Designed to capitalize on the popularity of internet-native aesthetic styles and high-energy character animation, the project aimed to revitalize the brand's image by appealing to a younger, digital-savvy demographic. The animation leans heavily into a surreal, fast-paced visual language common in contemporary Japanese web media, focusing on vibrant color palettes and rhythmic, absurdist storytelling.

The production was helmed by creative talents who utilized a distinct, unconventional art style to differentiate the spots from standard corporate advertisements. By blending traditional culinary themes with idiosyncratic character design, the series sought to create a memorable, meme-friendly experience rather than a traditional product demonstration. While the ONA was intended primarily as a viral marketing experiment, it received critical attention within niche animation circles for its stylistic boldness and departure from typical commercial tropes.
