Tales of Homeroom

Tales of Homeroom, known in Japan as Hōkago no Pleiades, is an original net animation series produced by the studio Signal.MD and released in 2018. The series acts as a thematic successor to the earlier collaboration between Subaru and Gainax, continuing the brand's interest in blending promotional content with high-quality magical girl aesthetic storytelling. It was designed to showcase the automotive company's branding through an imaginative lens, focusing on themes of youth, academic life, and the lighthearted spirit of the original franchise.

The production sought to maintain the visual clarity and pastel-heavy aesthetic that defined the earlier Pleiades projects, emphasizing character-driven narratives within a school setting. By shifting toward a shorter format, Signal.MD aimed to reach a digital-first audience, utilizing a clean, minimalist animation style that highlights the emotional resonance of its protagonists. Upon release, the series was received as a charming extension of the established universe, appreciated by fans for its focus on character development rather than purely commercial messaging.
