Temptation

Temptation was released in 2003 by Central Park Media, a company that played a significant role in the expansion of the North American anime market during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The release fits within the company's strategy of licensing niche adult-oriented titles to fill the growing demand for experimental or provocative animated works among Western audiences, a period when home video distribution was the primary vehicle for introducing Japanese animation to a wider demographic.

The production represents the aesthetic and narrative conventions common to independent OVA titles of that era, which often prioritized atmospheric storytelling and specific visual styles over expansive world-building. As an original video animation, it was intended for direct-to-consumer sales rather than television broadcast, allowing for more provocative themes. Upon its release, it was received as a typical genre entry for its time, catering to a localized audience interested in the specific stylistic trends of the early 2000s Japanese adult animation market.
