"Mihoshi's Special", narrated by the title character, is a side story about Mihoshi's life as a Galaxy Police Officer. Mihoshi introduces her partner, Kiyone -an up and coming officer who believes that having Mihoshi as her partner could be the end of her career - and explains how they solved the case of the Missing Super Energy. Other characters from the Tenchi Muyo series return and have alternate roles in the special. While the storyline parodies various anime works, Mihoshi's Special explores Mihoshi's past and provides a glimpse at her probable future.

Where it came from
Released in 1994, this OVA serves as a lighthearted spin-off of the popular Tenchi Muyo! franchise, focusing on the comedic exploits of the Galaxy Police officer Mihoshi Kuramitsu. Produced by Pioneer LDC, the project emerged during the height of the series' success as a way to expand the lore of the space-faring universe while highlighting the eccentric nature of its most scatterbrained protagonist.
The animation and character design carry the aesthetic hallmarks of the early 1990s AIC and Pioneer collaborations, emphasizing vibrant character-driven slapstick over the more intense narrative arcs of the main series. While some fans were initially uncertain about shifting focus away from Tenchi, the release was well-received as a playful exploration of side character dynamics and remains a staple for collectors of the expansive Tenchi Muyo! catalog.
