Two years had passed since he left the City of the Dead, and Will was seventeen by count. As a lord, he developed "Torch Port, a river port of light", and gradually the people's activities and smiles returned to "Beast Woods". However, out-of-season flowers bloom profusely, and an abnormality is discovered in the forest. Will and his friends head into the depths of the forest to solve this problem, and receive an ominous prophecy from the king of the forest.
"In the Iron Rust Mountains, the 'Fire of Black Calamity' will occur. The fire will spread, or it will burn everything in this land."
What is the calamity that sleeps in the ruined dwarven city of Tetsusabi Sanmyaku...!?

Where it came from
The Faraway Paladin: The Lord of Rust Mountains serves as the second season of the anime adaptation based on the light novel series by Kanata Yanagino. The series, which debuted in 2023, transitions the production duties to Studio OLM and Sunrise Beyond, following the protagonist Will as he continues his journey from the abandoned city of the dead into the wider world. The narrative focuses on the themes of faith, duty, and the struggle to establish a legacy in a high-fantasy setting.
The animation direction for this season aimed to maintain the contemplative tone of the source material while expanding the visual scale of the adventures. The design work focuses on contrasting the grim, industrial aesthetic of the Rust Mountains with the growth of the characters. While the shift in studio necessitated a change in visual style from the first season, the production sought to preserve the core emotional weight and character development that defined the initial arc.
