Where it came from
The Idolm@ster: 765 Pro to Iu Monogatari was released in 2012 as a special promotional project tied to the broader Idolm@ster multimedia franchise. Produced by Aniplex, this release served as a bridge between the core animation series and the ongoing rhythm game development, aiming to deepen the narrative connections between the 765 Production idols and their audience. It was crafted during a period of significant growth for the franchise, where creators focused on expanding the character lore through multimedia storytelling.
The design and production were centered on maintaining the established aesthetic of the A-1 Pictures animation team, prioritizing character-driven vignettes that reflected the idols' daily lives and personal growth. The release was well-received by the established fan base for its commitment to the existing canon and its role in humanizing the 765 Pro roster, further cementing the franchise's reputation for highly detailed, character-centric world-building within the competitive idol genre.
