Where it came from
The Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls Theater series, produced by Gathering and released beginning in 2017, was created as an adaptation of the popular mobile social game's in-game manga strips. These shorts were designed to expand upon the personalities of the franchise's expansive roster of idols, offering a comedic, bite-sized look at their daily lives behind the scenes of the 346 Production agency.
The animation utilizes a distinct, chibi-inspired art style that remains faithful to the aesthetic of the original source material's illustrated panels. By focusing on lighthearted gag humor and character-driven interactions, the series served as a complementary companion to the more dramatic narratives of the mainline anime adaptations, helping to solidify the individual appeal of the characters for a broader fan base.
