Yang Chen, the grandson of the head of the Yang family, was ridiculed by the other members of the family for not awakening his Tao soul. In despair, he broke through and awakened his Tao soul and the Weapon Spirit named Huangyu. He later found that a group of people were forcing his grandfather to give up his position as the head of the family, and those people were led by his uncle. Thereafter, Yang Chen was determined to enhance his strength to protect his family, so he went alone to Mount Youyun to seek medicine. Eventually, he exposed the conspiracy and held onto the position of paterfamilias.

Where it came from
The Legend of Yang Chen, also known as Wu Shang Shen Di, is an original net animation (ONA) produced by Ruo Hong Culture. Released in the context of the rapidly expanding Chinese animation industry, it follows the popular trend of 3D-animated adaptations of xianxia and xuanhuan web novels. These productions are characterized by a high-frequency release schedule, often consisting of short, episodic installments designed to maintain constant engagement with digital streaming audiences.
The series centers on the protagonist Yang Chen and features the signature visual style associated with Ruo Hong Culture, which prioritizes action-oriented storytelling and rapid world-building over high-fidelity cinematic animation. The creative intent behind the project was to capture the essence of the source material's cultivation systems and power scaling, aimed primarily at fans of the fantasy genre who appreciate serialized, bite-sized entertainment delivered through major streaming platforms.
