The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei: He Just Solves All the Mysteries

The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei: He Just Solves All the Mysteries, produced by 100studio and released in 2025, serves as a modern expansion of the Kyogokudo universe created by author Natsuhiko Kyogoku. The series focuses on the titular Chuzenji-sensei, an onmyoji who deconstructs seemingly supernatural occurrences by exposing the psychological and material realities behind them. It was produced to bring the dense, dialogue-heavy logic of the original novels to a new generation of viewers, emphasizing the tension between folklore and rational investigation.

The visual direction for this series balances the atmospheric, period-accurate aesthetic of post-war Japan with stylized depictions of the mononoke, or manifestations of human obsession. The creative team aimed to maintain the intellectual rigor of the source material while utilizing 100studio's signature framing to emphasize the philosophical debates that define the protagonist's confrontations. Upon release, it was noted for its departure from traditional action-heavy supernatural anime, opting instead for a methodical, character-driven approach that prioritizes linguistic puzzle-solving.
