Where it came from
The Warrior From Qin, or Qin Xia, is a prominent Chinese original net animation (ONA) series that debuted in 2017. Produced by Tencent Animation & Comics, the series emerged during a period of rapid expansion for the Chinese animation industry, aiming to blend historical fiction with fantasy elements. It is grounded in the volatile landscape of the Qin Dynasty, utilizing the era's rich political backdrop to frame a narrative centered on duty, martial arts, and the supernatural.
The design and visual direction of the series were crafted to appeal to a contemporary audience familiar with high-end CGI production. By leveraging Tencent's technical infrastructure, the studio aimed for a polished aesthetic that balanced intricate character models with dynamic, motion-heavy combat sequences. Upon its release, the series was received as a significant contribution to the growing domestic ONA market, noted for its attempt to elevate the production standards of serialized Chinese web animation.
