Time Bokan: The Villains' Strike Back

Time Bokan: The Villains' Strike Back serves as the second season of the 2016 reboot of the classic 1970s anime franchise Time Bokan, produced by Tatsunoko Production. Conceived as a modern update to the studio's heritage, the series maintains the lighthearted, slapstick tone of the original work while integrating contemporary sensibilities in animation and storytelling to appeal to a new generation of viewers.

The character and mechanical designs were developed by Akihiro Hino and his team at Level-5, who sought to blend the nostalgia of the iconic time-traveling mecha with a polished, vibrant aesthetic. While the reception was mixed among long-term fans of the 1975 original who preferred the traditional animation style, the series was noted for its comedic timing and the energetic performances of the voice cast, solidifying its place as a playful homage to Tatsunoko's deep catalog of classic adventure anime.
