Where it came from
Timing is a South Korean animated feature film produced by Hyoin Entertainment and directed by Min Kyung-jo. Released in 2015, the film is an adaptation of a popular webtoon series by the acclaimed author Kang Full, who is widely recognized for his narrative-driven suspense stories. The project sought to translate the webtoon’s distinct supernatural thriller atmosphere into the cinematic medium, focusing on characters with the ability to manipulate time to prevent a series of tragic, preordained disasters.
The film’s aesthetic leans heavily into the gritty, grounded visual style established in the original webtoon, emphasizing emotional depth and tension over conventional action tropes. While the animation style was noted for its departure from high-budget mainstream aesthetics, it was praised by fans of the source material for its faithful adaptation of Kang Full’s intricate character dynamics and thematic exploration of destiny and human intervention.
