The dispassionate, transforming assassin Golden Darkness returns to peer deeper into the mysteries surrounding her new life, while a sinister Nemesis manipulates her younger sister Mea from the shadows. Along with their newly discovered mother, Tearju, this previously estranged family quickly becomes the center of everyone's attention. On the other hand, Princess Momo's Harem Plan stands on shaky ground amidst Rito's inability to confess to his longtime crush Haruna, who has grown feelings of her own.
But things aren't as peaceful as they seem; an evil force looms amidst the innocuous commotion, threatening to eclipse the love, happiness, and friendship of Rito and his harem. Only the light of love can hope to banish the shadow.

Where it came from
To Love Ru Darkness 2 was produced by Studio Xebec and released in 2015 as a direct sequel to the 2012 series, continuing the adaptation of Saki Hasemi and Kentaro Yabuki’s long-running manga series. This installment was part of a major creative push to translate the increasingly complex character dynamics and heightened aesthetic style of the original print work, which had moved toward a more mature, elaborate visual presentation during the Darkness arc.
The series was directed by Atsushi Ootsuki, who maintained the franchise's established visual identity while navigating the demands of a high-energy, episodic television format. It was designed to cater to a dedicated existing fanbase, focusing on character-driven comedy and a distinct high-fantasy science fiction aesthetic. Upon its release, the series was noted primarily for its technical fidelity to Yabuki’s intricate character designs and its role in maintaining the prominence of the To Love Ru brand within the mid-2010s anime landscape.
