Where it came from
Released in 1995, Udauda Yatteru Hima wa Nee! is a two-episode original video animation based on the manga series by Rokudou Minami. It serves as a quintessential example of mid-1990s delinquent-themed anime, a genre that frequently leaned into a mix of juvenile humor, crude aesthetics, and energetic action sequences typical of the era’s direct-to-video market.
The production was handled by J.C.Staff, a studio that was then establishing its reputation for adapting comedic and slice-of-life manga series. The design of the OVA reflects a gritty, rough-edged visual style intended to mimic the raw look of 90s shonen manga. While it was not a high-budget project, it remains a noted piece of studio history, capturing a transitional moment in anime production before the industry shifted toward the sleeker digital aesthetics of the late nineties.
