A struggle between two old gods continues on in the modern age. On the side of justice and the goddess Aphrodite is Venus 5, a team of beautiful lady warriors who can wrap up any battle with a happy ending. In the name of their goddess, they punish the followers of the god Apollo, their ancient and naughty, naughty enemy. But winning a war is never easy, and the lovely women in Aphrodite's sailor-suited fivesome have to beat off more than their fair share of tentacled villains in order to save the day.

Where it came from
Venus 5 was released in 1994 as a two-part original video animation series produced by Daiei. It emerged during a period in the 1990s when the OVA market was heavily focused on high-concept science fiction and action, often blending futuristic aesthetics with character-driven plots. The series serves as an example of the medium's creative experimentation, positioning itself within the competitive landscape of independent direct-to-video anime production that allowed studios to explore genre tropes outside of traditional television broadcast constraints.
The visual direction and character designs were crafted to align with the polished, sharp aesthetic popular in mid-90s animation. The series was designed to showcase fluid action sequences and a distinct sci-fi flair, reflecting the era's fascination with space-faring narratives and sleek character archetypes. While it remains a niche entry in the broader catalog of Daiei's animated works, it is recognized by enthusiasts as a representative piece of the bubble-era OVA phenomenon that prioritized stylized animation and atmospheric world-building.
