Where it came from
Voice of Fox, also known as Kitsune no Koe, originated as a Chinese web manga by Guang Xian Jun before being adapted into a 2018 television anime series. Produced by Yumeta Company, the project was part of a collaborative effort between Chinese and Japanese creative teams aimed at bridging the gap between digital webcomic readers and traditional anime television audiences. The narrative follows the journey of a talented but facially scarred teenager who navigates the cutthroat world of the music industry by performing as a ghost singer for a popular idol.
The series focuses on themes of identity and the superficial nature of the entertainment industry. Directed by Koujin Ochi, the production utilizes a standard television anime aesthetic typical of the late 2010s to emphasize the contrast between the protagonist's humble, shadowed reality and the glitzy, performative world of pop stardom. Upon its release, it was noted for its portrayal of the industry's inner workings, though it remained a niche title within the broader international anime market.
