Where it came from
Released in 2019, this original video animation (OVA) serves as a direct follow-up to the television series adaptation of Nanatsu Mukunoki’s manga series, Wataten!: an Angel Flew Down to Me. Produced by Doga Kobo, the project was developed to satisfy fan demand for more content following the conclusion of the anime's twelve-episode run earlier that year. The production team, led by director Daisuke Hiramaki, aimed to maintain the lighthearted, comedic aesthetic and high-energy character animation that defined the television series.
The OVA continues the narrative of Miyako Hoshino, a shy college student obsessed with cosplay, and her interaction with her sister’s elementary school friends. Like the preceding series, the character designs were crafted by Hiromi Nakagawa, who sought to capture the distinct, endearing artistic style of the original source material. It was received as a standard extension of the franchise, serving as a bonus chapter that retained the established tone and visual charm characteristic of Doga Kobo’s slice-of-life productions.
