Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!: Motenaishi, Nazomeite Miru

Released in October 2014, the Watamote OVA, titled Motenaishi, Nazomeite Miru, serves as a supplemental episode to the 2013 television anime adaptation of Nico Tanigawa's manga series. Produced by the studio SILVER LINK, the project was developed to extend the awkward, darkly comedic narrative of the series' protagonist, Tomoko Kuroki, following the conclusion of the initial twelve-episode run. It maintains the distinct aesthetic of the television series, focusing on the social anxiety and internal monologue that define the character's struggle to navigate high school life.

The design and animation direction reflect the show's signature shift between mundane reality and exaggerated, often surreal, manifestations of Tomoko's delusions. While the television series was noted for its divisive portrayal of social discomfort, the OVA provided fans with a dedicated look at the protagonist's attempts to cultivate a more mysterious persona. The work was received primarily by the series' established cult following, serving as a continuation of the source material's exploration of alienation and self-perception.
