Wedding Peach DX

Wedding Peach DX was produced in 1996 as a four-episode original video animation series, serving as a direct continuation of the magical girl television anime series Wedding Peach. The series was developed by Studio KSS to capitalize on the popularity of the television run, focusing on the domestic and romantic lives of the main characters after their primary battles concluded. It shifted from the high-stakes action of the original show toward a more character-driven, slice-of-life tone that allowed fans to see the protagonists in post-war settings.

The character designs for the OVA were crafted by Tadashi Kudou, who maintained the aesthetic established in the television series by Sukehiro Tomita and Nao Yazawa. The project was intended to offer a nostalgic coda for the dedicated fanbase, emphasizing the romantic development between the lead character, Momoko, and her love interest, Yousuke. While the original series was a notable entry in the mid-90s magical girl genre, the DX release is primarily remembered for its distinct transition into a more comedic and romantic narrative format, which resonated with viewers seeking a formal conclusion to the franchise.
